Acura Recently revealed their much-awaited prototype which will compete under the Team Penske banner, the ARX-05 DPi, and it is absolutely gorgeous!
The IMSA DPi has a 3.5-liter AR35TT twin-turbo V6 based on the engines used in several Acura road cars and Team Penske will run two cars throughout the IMSA Season apart from Petit Le Mans at Road Atalanta, where they will run LMP2 based Oreca 07-Gibsons.
The Acura features a lovely front side with a very radical and a striking aero fairing which is connected to the aggressive but elegant looking headlights.
The engine is tuned up massively and now that it will no longer be used to drive families back home, it will produce around 600 horsepower. Since Penske are running the ARX 05 DPi, experience shouldn’t be a problem as the Roger Penske-owned outfit has won several championships in the ALMS.
Penske and Acura will have tough competition in the form of Mazda and Cadillac with both looking to improve their cars for the forthcoming season. Penske won’t have any problems in the field of drivers with two-time Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron already confirmed for one car and three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves strongly linked for a drive in the second car.
Hopefully, the arrival of this new team and new car will strengthen up the competition in the 24 Hours Of Daytona and produce an even more exciting race than usual!
