2017 is bound to be an exciting season with major regulation changes coming in. Just like any other Formula One season, new drivers will make their debut in their new cars. This season Pascal Wehrlein, Rio Haryanto, Esteban Ocon, Jolyon Palmer and Stoffel Vandoorne made their debut.
Vandoorne replaced an injured Fernando Alonso at McLaren for the Bahrain GP and scored his first point by finishing in 10th place. After it was announced that Jenson Button will take a sabbatical from the sport at the end of the season, Vandoorne was confirmed as Fernando Alonso’s teammate for 2017 at McLaren Honda. The 24 year-old Belgian dominated the 2015 GP2 World Championship winning by a margin of 160 points over nearest rival Alex Rossi. He heads into next season on a winning note after winning the final race of the 2016 Japanese Super Formula and will surely want to continue this run heading into the 2017 Australian Grand Prix.
On the other hand, Williams Martini Racing has signed 18 year-old Lance Stroll to partner Valtteri Bottas for the 2017 Formula One Season. Stroll won the 2016 Euro Formula 3 Championship with ease which prompted Williams to sign this hot talent. Although his move was not really a secret, many believe that money played a major role in his quick rise to Formula One. Money or not, young Lance has loads of talent and his presence can be a major hope for Canadian F1 fans who have been waiting for a homegrown driver since Jacques Villeneuve.
Who do you think will finish ahead in the Drivers’ World Championship next year? Stroll or Vandoorne?
