India’s Karun Chandhok will race at the 6 Hours Of Spa and the 24 Hours Of Le Mans in the LMP2 category with Tockwith Motorsports. Tockwith racing at Le Mans means that Ligier returns to the legendary 24 Hour Race as a chassis supplier. Chandhok last raced at Le Mans in the LMP2 category with Murphy Prototypes where he finished 13th overall and 5th in category.
Tockwith wanted an experienced and fast driver to support their relatively young driver lineup (Nigel Moore – 25, Philip Hanson – 17) and they got a perfect answer in the form of Chandhok. The former HRT driver also raced in the Donnington Park LMP3 Cup with Steve Tandy in late April, where he finished 3rd in Race 1 and 4th Race 2. Tockwith, being a new team have no realistic hopes for winning Le Mans in their first try but they will try the finish the long endurance race and get a better idea about what is to be improved with their car to finish in the top end of the standings.
